Michelle started bringing her children to Rochdale Judo Club. She wanted them to learn a martial art and also to help them with other aspects such as concentration. One daughter, Georgina, is an active member of the club over 8s junior section whilst her sibling Aurora is happy embracing her passion with Rochdale Warriors Karate Club. The Warriors also train at Rochdale Judo Club, which is convenient for as both daughters can pursue their sporting goals under one roof.
Michelle became Club Welfare Officer (CWO) after a vacancy arose, this occurred just as the BJA Board of Directors took the decision to make the appointment of a CWO a condition of membership for clubs with a junior membership. Michelle stood in initially to ensure RJC could continue coaching juniors but before long she became a permanent fixture and an active participant at club committee meetings.
Michelle is passionate about children having structured out of school activities available.
As CWO she is an initial point of contact for anyone in the club who might have any concerns regarding safeguarding and protection.
She also collects the juniors mat session fees, and coordinates our juniors membership files and payments.
